A Self-Portrait Doodle
Have you tried doing a self-portrait of yourself? I did, and it was absolutely fun to do! However, I did not like to draw myself originally. When drawing one's self into a caricature of the sort, you need to pick out the things that define you, sometimes they are things you like, sometimes there are things you hate, but kind of necessary to draw if you are trying to draw yourself.
How did I get over this speed bump? Draw your features you like the most, then work from there. I did this gradually, and what I learned from this is how to love myself a little more. I guess you come to appreciate your face and your body when you begin to study yourself. As I drew myself, I knew that what ever features that stand out which I do not like, I know that it is something that my family and friends do not care about, they love me for me, and these features are "me" so why can I not love them too?
Gosh, my mind is all boggled today. It is pretty difficult expressing your emotions down in writing, mind you, I do not usually do it this way.
In all, I hope you can see that drawing yourself is not scary or will make you hate yourself more, for it will only teach you all the things that make "you" up and unique.
Side note: Now that I write this post, makes me wanna redraw my character with a little more bigger nose and bushier eyebrows XD
